"Go Green Initiative"  by 26 SCG NSG Mumbai ...

           A Tree plantation initiative was undertaken by 26 SCG NSG  Mumbai along with Smiles Foundation, Navi Mumbai and students of schools in remote areas of Navi Mumbai.

      Approximately 10,000 saplings were planted in the villages of  Navi Mumbai, Kharghar, Khalapur, Mahad and Amravati. Smiles Foundation  provided  sweets and snacks to the Adivasi villagers and school children  who participated in the plantation drive at these areas.

        Col Kirpal Singh,  Group Commander 26 SCG NSG motivated the school children to plant trees and briefed about environmental issues like global warming, soil erosion and deforestation.

10,000 saplings consisting of 1000 Bawa, 3000 Kanchan, 1000 Jamun, 1000 Jalul, 1000 Karand, 1000 Katahal, 500 Avla, 500 guava, 500 sitaphal and 500 bhel saplings were planted. 

    The event was attended by villagers and school staff.

   Locals from the area appreciated the effort to increase green spaces amidst rising construction activities.
