Siddharth Kumar Tewary's "Escaype Live" is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. The series revolves around a talent app on social media that has given its users an opportunity to earn Rs. 3 Crore by participating in a contest, and captures the length to which people can go to earn and get famous on the platform. Actress Plabita Borthakur, who goes by the name Fetish Girl on the app and Hina in real life in the series, believes it portrays the reality of today.
She said, "When I was narrated the concept I listened to it passionately because it really seemed like a world we were heading towards. But as I went on listening to it, I realised that it is the world we are living in right now. I believe it is a mirror to the society and I do believe that even though the show feels like a whole new world, it shows the world we are living in and also the world where we are headed to in the near future."
She revealed that she was thrilled with the concept and wanted to be a part of it. She added, "I haven't seen or heard something like this. I have seen a lot of futuristic content about where we might be headed, but I feel this show is about where we are at this moment and I feel it is very exciting and very interesting to watch. It is new and refreshing and I'm grateful to be part of it."
Talking about her character, Plabita said, "I played the character of Fetish Girl. When I heard about the character I realised that we see things on a very surface level. So, if you look at Fetish, it's very easy to just look at her as a fetish girl, but in the series, we see her journey about why she's doing what she's doing, what she wants from life, what is she feeling and what is she going through. The series showed two very different sides of the same person. There's a whole graph to the character and I like how they come together in the show."
How was it working with Siddharth and One Life Studios? "I had a very good experience. I think it's very nice to be part of a team where everyone is thinking about how to make an amazing product with no compromises and taking the time that is needed," she said.
"What I liked was the pace we worked at and how Siddharth was not ready to compromise because of time limitations or any other limitations. He would never compromise on the quality of what we were making, and that is something we can see on the screen right now. It was lovely to be directed by him because I think he knows how to take out the best from his actors and he did manage to make me comfortable. I am very happy to have worked with him and I had a nice time with everybody on the set," Plabita concluded.
